Dec. 14 - 18 - We will be taking SRI on Tuesday the 15th please make sure your iPad is fully charged. We will also be finishing up characterization assessment and point of view assessment continue studying your notes. Then, we will finish with the narrative writing assessment, so students can show what they know about narrative writing. If time allows we will share our narrative writing pieces from last week.
Dec 7 - Dec 11 - We will be taking Acuity on Monday please make sure you iPad is completely charged. Also, we will finish up our inferencing reassessment and begin characterization and point of view reassessment. Study your point of view notes. We will continue working on our narrative writing - looking at word choice, writing effective conclusions, and looking at sentence fluency. We will start our rough drafts and discuss the difference between revision and editing. We will also do some peer revising/editing. Write our final copy
Nov 30 - Dec. 3 - We will be working on reassessment of inferencing and working on improving our narrative writing. We will be working at focusing our writing ideas, powerful hooks, and organization of narratives. Also, don't forget to checkout the book fair.
Nov 23 - Nov. 27 -We will be taking a pre-assessment on narrative writing. There is no school Wednesday, Nov. 25th - Friday, Nov. 27th. Have a fun and safe Thanksgiving break.
Nov 16 - Nov 20 - We will read "The Medicine Bag" and "Who Are You Today, Maria?", and students will compare contrast the stories' main characters and make inferences based on their analysis.
Nov. 9 - 13 - We will read the short story called "Rules of the Game", and students will continue practice point of view, analyzing characters, and making inferences. They will also have a chance to reassess character analysis and making inferences for mid-terms.
Nov. 2 - Nov. 6 - We will finish up analyzing "The Life of Lemon Brown" with Reading Comprehension questions, and then begin reading the non-fiction article, Basic Blues: An American Art Form
Oct. 26 - 30 - We will begin Unit 2 with a short story called "The Life of Lemon Brown". We will use the story to analyze character motivation, methods of characterization, and using that information to make inferences using text support.
