Apr 25 - Apr 29 Students will continue presentations. They will also be taking the MAP in Science on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Apr 18 - Apr 22 Students will finalize their projects and begin presentations if time allows. Students will be taking the MAP in ELA and Math this week.
Apr 11 - Apr 15 Students will continue to work on their projects.
Apr 4 - Apr 8 Students will begin research and work on their individual presentations. Great ideas have been flowing! I even have students that want to conduct their own polls to tailor their ideas to our own building.
Mar 28 - Apr 1 - Spring break!!
Mar 21 - Mar 25 Students will finish up presentations and begin researching for their individual projects. Students have been asked to choose one thing they would like to change about their school or school district.
Mar 14 - Mar 18 - Students will start their presentations this week.

Feb 8 - Feb 12- Students will working on the beginning stages of the their projects. In some cases and depending on the project the group selected, students might be expected to work individually on their part of the project and then collaborate and communicate with their group to complete the projects - ask your child about their project. We have a lot of great ones started.
Feb 1 - Feb 5 - Students will be selecting their first group project and begin the initial planning stage. Students are required to bring their iPad (fully charged), a folder, pen/pencil, and paper to class everyday.
Jan 25 - Jan 29- Students will be finishing up their research on the contests and projects. On Wednesday, we will vote on the top projects and narrow down our selections. Students will also make their final selection(s) on the contest they have chosen to answer. They are required to fill out a google form letting me know which one they have chosen.

Jan 11 - Jan 15 - Students comparing various types of traditional media and digital media. We will discuss the role of digital media, their digital footprints and being safety in today's digital world. We will be completing 3 to 4 projects this semester depending on the projects that are selected.
First Project: Each individual student will enter a school appropriate contest of your choice. Once they have made their final selection, they will need to fill in the google form found in google classroom letting me know what contest they are entering.
If you search "middle school writing prompt contests 2016" there are several websites to research possible projects. The link below is an example of one.
Second and Third Projects:
Research various project based learning opportunities. Out of the list of 20 or 30 projects selected, the class will narrow them down to the top 10 most popular projects. From the final list students will select at least one individual project and one group project.
Jan 6 - Jan 8 - We did various getting to know you activities, including a personality compass test. Ask you child about their dominant compass. We discussed classroom procedures and expectations followed by getting to know you activities.
Students are expected to:
*come to class everyday with their charged iPad and a set of earbuds/earphones.
*be a positive, respectful contributor to class discussions.
